The heads of the ports of Klaipeda and Antwerp have signed a memorandum agreement which provides for further cooperation of the two seaports. The memorandum was signed on Tuesday in Vilnius, during the meeting of the Lithuanian prime minister and the minister-president of Flanders.
"The signing of the memorandum certainly gives meaning to the cooperation of the Klaipeda and Antwerp ports in topical areas. The cooperation agreement with the Port of Antwerp will be the basis for the exchange of expertise. We expect active mutual cooperation in the improvement of legal environment of seaports and other areas," says Arvydas Vaitkus, the general director of the Klaipeda State Seaport Authority.
Under the cooperation agreement, the ports will also develop joint market research and marketing projects and organise events. The port authorities of Klaipeda and Antwerp have been cooperation for several decades already.
Klaipeda State Seaport Authority has signed similar cooperation agreements with 16 partners from 7 different countries: port authorities, railway companies, construction and hydraulic engineering companies.
