Simplified application for US visa introduced in Lithuania

As of August 23, 2012 the Embassy of United States moves to a new order of registration and application for the US visa.

The new procedure will allow applicants to sign up online for an interview for non-immigrant visas on a new simplified website.

The new system will facilitate the process of registration to the interview. Also, if necessary a person may apply for an urgent interview appointment.

However, residents of Lithuania will not be able to use previously provided courier services

The most significant change in the application procedure is the introduction of the council tax. The U.S. Embassy points out that a person will be able to sign up for an interview only after he or she fills in a visa application form (DS-160) and pays the consular fee.

This change will help applicants to avoid misunderstandings regarding the consular fee payment on the day of the interview.
